We were tasked with creating a solution that would allow brands to directly communicate and sell to their customers via live video. We quickly realised that one of the biggest challenges was to make sure that products could be bought from the video without integrating the service with the actual e-commerce platforms that the initial customers had. Besides solving this almost impossible problem we also had to design and build both an amazing interactive video player and a well functioning app for the hosts, in as little as 4 months.
We have been pioneering mobile live streaming since 2007 and the early days of the smartphone. Our world renowned mobile streaming technology is used by thousands of Associated Press journalists across the globe and used by hundreds of apps and websites, for everything from sport events, trivia apps to drones. We launched Live Video Shopping in September 2019 as the only solution available in Europe. Among our first clients: Monki, NA-KD, Stronger, CAIA cosmetics and Lyko. Our mission was to create an app for the host as well as an interactive video player that could easily be integrated on a customers website. The app for the hosts had to be developed for both Android and iOS in order to support all potential users. The web player had to have a great user interface with a customizable design so it would seamlessly match the customer's own brand. The top priority was to make sure the users understood and appreciated this new way of shopping inside a live video and that the solution actually provided a positive result for the customers in terms of sales and engagement. Inspiration for the user interface came from similar solutions in Asia combined with interfaces similar to Instagram, Twitch and Youtube that users in the West would be more used to.
We managed to successfully design, build and launch both apps and the interactive video player, including custom skins for NAKD and H&M, within the set time frame. The customers saw that engagement on their websites went up with 6 times, the Add-to-cart rate increased with 4,7 times and they had almost 3 times longer visitor durations on average. With the launch and continued success of Bambusers new Live Video Shopping product, the company value increased with over 1500% in less than a year.
